The room in Mesquite can hold 375 tables maximum, so when we booked it
we picked that location as one we could grow into. When we added the Bowie
symposium into the show, requiring a curtained off area for that, we knew
that 375 would not be possible, so we have said since the first days of
taking reservations that we could put 375 tables in the room, but we didn't
want to do that for a first show--and we set the goal at a 300 table limit.
We quoted that to many makers and dealers, that we would cut it off at 300.
I really expected we would hit that a day or two before the show, or
might even be a few tables under. But with yesterday's mail we have SOLD OUT
our limit of 300 tables for the Spirit of Steel Show 2000. Any further
reservations will be put on a waiting list.
It's hard to describe what it is like to sign your name to a contract for
an exhibit hall with nothing but high expectations to fill it.
So while this post is a notification that the show is sold out, it is
also a very heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped make it so. The show
would not have been sold out with a tremendous amout of help from those who
passed the word in a dozen different ways. Thanks.
A successful show is not made by the promoter, or the location, as much
as the people who come together to attend. That's what a knife show really
is--the group of people who are there. Whether we accomplish making a
successful show out of a sold-out show remains to be seen. From the folks
lined up to attend it's certainly the people I want to go to a show with.
So if you're in the area, stop by if you can.
