Oh, so you were the one that won that!
were you bidding on it kgriggs?

There was a fairly inexpensive renegade up for auction as well. I missed it though :grumpy:

that executive looks to be in pretty rough shape. I think I paid more than I should have. :o

Have no idea what you paid Pete, but the unchamfered outer edge of the handle indicates that it is a very early Executive, quite possibly from the first batch of them. That adds to the collector value, in spite of the condition. Plus, until you have the knife in hand, hard to tell what is real "wear and tear" and what is dust, finger oil, and other "artifacts" from the seller not wiping the knife down. You may, or may not., be pleasantly surprised - have had them go both ways.

$37 and change w/ 2.50 shipping I think it came to a total of fortysomething dollars when all was said and done.

how big is it compared to say a delica and a dragonfly?

would it be a sin to edc it?

About the same blade length as the D'fly, but the handle is a little longer. So naturally, it's smaller than the Delica.

That one looks like it lost its virginity some time ago Pete, so the old saying "what's one more slice off a cut loaf" comes to mind. :D

well
I got the executive today, and I have to say, this is a NEAT little knife. it isn't too small to use for bigger cutting chores, and it isn't big enough to frighten people. The blade is a perfect shape for utility and the every day cutting chores we encounter.

It is in very good condition, and has been used before. the tip has a very very small chip missing, and the serrations aren't as deep or pointed like newer spydercos. The ricasso simply says "spyderco" on one side, and "seki-japan" on the other, and it is in the old style of print. I have a brass lined copilot in similar condition. The steel could be g-2 gin-1 or 440c from it's appearance. The blade is a little tight to open, but it locks up TIGHT with absolutely NO side to side or up and down play to it. I am impressed for $37 dollars. I would like to know what a piece like this would be worth before I decide to carry it for edc for a while, although, I don't think it will stop me from using it :)

it is a left handed model, and I usually carry my small edc in my left front pocket, so it may work out, clipping it to the pocket will keep it above my keys and lighter for easier access.

it isn't very sharp, although I think it would cut, and I will probably sharpen it on the sharpmaker later.

thanks for the id help everyone, and I'll post more later, when I decide what to do with this knife :)
