how come some spyderco's have the painted black stainless clips, and some have the matte black metal clips? which are more durable. the matte ones are obviously less prone to scratching, but I have several high end spyders with the black painted clip, which scuffs up right quickly, and an old rescue se ats-55 se with the matte clip which I like a whole lot better. this is the kind similar to the clip on the byrd raven.

is there a rhyme or reason to this, or is one style more favored than another by the consumer.

I heard the walmart natives use the matte black clip now rather than the painted one on my walmart native. is this true?

I don't care for black clips in general, preferring bare metal. I just don't care for the worn edge look that comes from use. I had the opportunity to ask Sal "Why all the black clips?" His response was "ELU demand." Go figure:rolleyes: . I guess the point is that it is hard to please us all.
