Hi Steve. Have you or could you do a full slab replacement for a big Persian? I'm interested in re-doing the whole thing (no bolsters) in a micarta.

Thanks!
Billy

No I have not had that one requested but I'm sure I could do it. If I understand you correctly you want just linerless slabs?? If so I'd recommend Carbon Fiber or G10 as stand alone slabs but on something that long for Micarta you really should have liners under it. The knife will lose a lot of weight to either way but the linerless G10 in a textured green or even the textured carbon fiber would be an awesome folder strong enough to function like a champ with no liners needed. Of course those can be added but its all in what you want to spend.

Rebuilds of this type with no liners typically start out around $135 and go up from there depending on bells and whistles. Add liners it takes it up above $200. Add one of my signiture low rider clips it takes it up a little more and so on. Its all up to the customer. Thanks for asking.

Awesome! Yeah, linerless, textured, green G-10 sounds like a winner to me! Not totally sure about the lowrider clip though (I like the way the butt rides w/the stock clip), do you have pics of a Persian with one? Also any pics of the green G-10?

Either way, I will be sending one of my C83's your way shortly!

Thanks again!

If you go to the link at the bottom of any of my posts to "STR's Blog" you can look to the right at the menu and find the Spyderco Military frame lock conversion I did. Its got the green textured G10 on one side. Thats my favorite G10 right there. Its the best for looks and grippy texture. The brown is the same that is on the Buck 881 folder I did up that is there also. Problem is that with clicking on the Military or the 881 by the menu it only brings up one pic at a time. To see them all as posted you need to scroll down to 'older posts' bottom of every page and just scroll through page by page which is probably better. There are not that many pages there yet since the blogger is fairly new for me. Oh and you can click on any picture to make it full size when there which is nice because some of those digitals really bring out the details.

Actually, I'm kinda liking the brown after seeing that Buck. I have enough green Spydercos right now.

Anyway I will fill out the form and send her in for new clothes.:D

Thanks again!
Billy

Its nice too. Like I said, the brown is just the same other than color.

I have more of that one too so its all good.

Yeah, I'd need the work order form for sure.
Thanks

Alright Steve, the Persian is going out in the mail today! You will get an email later on with tracking info.

Sounds good.

Thanks for the heads up.

Got your folder in the mail this morning.

I'll keep you posted.

Weighs in at 5.2 ounces as it came. We'll see how that compares to the new incarnation once I am done with it.

This one is on the way to being done. It won't be long. Got a lot going on at the moment but I'm finding time to get steps done on all of the ones pertinent. Looks like its lost some weight. Not all the hardware on it but it looks like it will weigh in about 3.2 ounces in its new clothes. Sure is going to be nice and grippy too.

Keep in mind its still in the rough stages but its all downhill now.

Wow Steve, much faster than I thought and it looks GREAT! I can't wait to get it back and compare side by side with my other Persians.

I thought I'd have it done today. Still might but I forgot the wife and I had appointments to meet with the guys doing our new siding to go over final details and pick colors and all which through my day a bit.

I figure I'll be done with it no later than tomorrow and it will be ready to go home in the mail Monday though for sure.

Whoohooooo!!!!!!!!

Hey Shawn, yeah I think it's gonna not only look great but be a real work horse too.. I can't wait to get it. Probably not something I would have done if it were my only Persian, but I have 3 sooo...:D

Got this one knocked out today. Final weight is just as I called it. 3.2 ounces.

Looks like the diet worked! You've lost 2 ounces! Congrats! :D

Seriously, that first pic still has the locktite showing on one side. I have cleaned that off since. She is ready to go out to you on Monday morn.

No problem, that's my work email and I'm back in the office around 7:30 am on Monday.

Thanks again Steve. I'm really excited about getting this one back.:D

I sent a duplicate of what I emailed you there to the email you just posted here. I did it after signing off earlier so you should be getting it here if its not there already. The tracking email from the USPS website will go to the work email though.

Thanks
