I just purchased two Civilians which are made of aluminum and rubber inserts. The question I have is one of them the blade is marked GIN-1 and the other ATS55. Are they equally good for the purpose they were designed?

Hi Backup. Welcome. Both are very good steels and work well for the design of the model.

I don't think there were many Aluminum Civvies with ATS-55.

Well Sal, I'm glad to hear about alum Civilians not in great numbers with ATS-55, because I just checked, and yep, it's sitting in the case as big as life! (Not For Sale)

Sal,a friend of mine has a aluminum civie but the tip on the blade is broke off.Is it possible to send it back to Spyderco to have this repaired? Thanks for your time.

Hi Wasp. He can send it in. We can regrind the tip, cnnot replace the blade, The Civvie is not designed or intended for utility functions.
