I recently purchased a brand new in box and packaging
C52BMS, blade is serrated and has a AUS-8 marked.

Box is marked EXPERIMENT SER
MICARTA
12/97

Clip is black and has a gold "spyder" at top of clip.

Bought it to use, as I like Calypso Jr's and I've been partial to Plain edge blades............now i'm wondering it's history and worth? (haven't done anything but admire, so far!)

Thanks for the info and I hope that this is an acceptable post for this forum? I can post pictures, if needed?

If I remember correctly, the only difference between the experimental Caly Jr. and the regular production models is the box it came in.

Everything else is identical, so I'd vote for using it.

But...

Before you go ahead and use it, might want to wait for a second opinion. I've been known to be mistaken quite often, I have pretty bad memory.;)

I would concur. The knife is identical to the micarta Calypso Jr. The only difference is the markings on the box. And, I strongly suspect there are more C52BMS Experimental boxes out there than ones marked C52BMS Calypso Jr. Since there as still a few dealers who have the micarta SE in stock, I too would say go ahead and use it.

They're the same, but obviously not everyone knows that. You probably could sell it for quite a bit more than a non-experimental Caly Jr. I've once saw an experimental one go for over $150 on a well known internet auction site.
