He got lucky! Looks like a Caly 3.5, but I could be wrong. I bet that didn't feel good in the chest.

Brave kid, I'm glad he's OK. It's nice to see a knife in a public story saving a child's life.

The person who's caly 3.5 it is posted on Spyderco forum under the picture section.

I'm really sad about what happened to the kid but at least he seems to be recovering well. Good job daddy-O!

The young boy is a trooper and his dad is a hero. I shudder to think of what could have happened had his father not been carrying his Spyderco. Kudos to Jason Hobbs and may his son recover quickly.

Glad to see the kid's OK. What a trooper.

He's going to have one hell of a story to tell about the scars on his face when he gets older too.

Dear God, I thought this was a joke when I first saw the posting. Sorry to see this kid get hurt but could have been so much worse. WAY TO GO DAD!!!!

I've seen that twice on CNN this morning.

Glad he had his Caly 3.5 on him. Saved his sons life.

My thoughts go out to the boy and his family, and hope for a speedy recovery.

Great story! I always carry my Spyderco Delica when I'm hiking in AZ, and a Taurus snub nose 357:friendly_wink:

That kid's one tough little hombre.

"When the mountain lion mauled you, did it hurt?"
"No, not really."

Glad to hear everything worked out for the best. Damn quick thinking on that guy's part.

Good thing for the kid that his dad was prepared. I cant imagine the parents horror.

The grey wolves attack from Liam Neeson's latest movie still haunt me.
I could only imagine how the knife prevented another life taken.

Kudos to Spyderco!

Maybe a Caly Cat in making?

A knife can truly make a difference! Glad his son survived. So much sadness this week regarding kids. Good news makes me smile.
