Spyderco magazine ad from the past

Back in the 80's I remember a ad for a Spyderco Endura ( I'm guessing) probably in combat handguns magazine or the like but It was a "It happened to Me" true story of a tug boat crew member who had to saw thru a cable with his spyderco to save the boat / crew .

Does anyone else remember this ad or am I crazy??

seems like spyderco sent the guy a new knife for his story.

I don't remember the ad from a magazine since I wasn't very coherent during the 80s on account of an being an infant but I do recall the ad being featured in The Spyderco Story. My copy is with the rest of my stuff in storage but I'll see if I can find a pic online.

ETA: I believe the knife in the ad was actually a partially serrated C15 Bob Terzuola.

My guess is the knife would have probably been a Mariner. I don't think the Endura came about until 1990 or 1991.

Click on the link on my previous post...Sal says it was a Mariner. I remember the pic of the actual knife, that was a cool story :)

Oops, I hadn't clicked on that link! :o

I hope Spyderco releases a brand new book, one that has a whole large section of such stories. I love that stuff.

That was a great ad.

If I'm thinking of the same ad, the knife in question was a Spyderco Terzuola (c15 or c19)

A friend of mine went to England last year and snipped this ad from a magazine for me.

Neat Spyderco dealer ad. Web address redirects you to a shop called "Mind Your Fingers". Clever name for a knife shop, got a chuckle out of that. On the other hand, the prices gave me one more reason to smile and say "Thank God I'm an American". :D

I have a bunch of old gun and shooting magazines stashed away, from when I was more into guns as a young lad. It's kind of fun to go through them sometimes and notice the ads for knives and see how they were marketed and what the prices had been.

Again, Amen to "Thank God I'm an American." The prices are high, but worse than that ,What about the stupid law that does not allow a locking folding knife? AND All the folders shown have locks! What gives??

What the hell is wrong with a country that believes crime can be averted by NOT having a locking blade?

This is the kind of s**t that happens when You start banning firearms etc...The lawmakers take it to the N th degree. whats next? You're not even allowed to defend your life or family?
