440A is a martenstic steel, in the same row as 440B and 440C. They all have a high content of chromium.
440A- C-0.65/0.75, Cr-16.00/18.00, Mn-1.00, Mo-0.75, Ph-0.04, Si-1.00, S-0.03
Your model is the first of the Natives, IIRC made by Camilus.
The Deacon and UK Ken know a lot more about the Native and both have interesting info on their websites.
