Does Spyderco have any plans to put this knife out in a SE or CE version or any variant to the handle materials besides SS? I would be interested in some variation to the knife. I'm just not a big fan of SS...I love G10! Let us know... ;)

maybe to quote Sal on BritishBlades

Thanx for the kind comments Danzo, and thanx for the pics Paul.

As the General mentioned, the design is couple of years old. It took a while to "get it built right". The project was more of an "design excercise" than a model. Eric designed and engineered the piece. There are only a few major parts, but the fit"was more difficult than it might appear.

The original design was to have interchangable scales, blade shapes and colored clips and balls. It was to come as a kit. One could "build" their knife each day. G-10, Almite, Titan, etc. on the scales. Drop point, lamsfoot, etc on the blades. Now that we've figured out how to build it, if reaction is acceptable, we might go ahead a develop.

It will be fun to watch reaction in the market place, which will no doubt range from one exteme to the other.

At Spyderco, we believe that variety of design, while retaining hi-function keeps the models interesting.

Thanx much for the interest.

WOW!WOW!WOW! I think that would be one kit that would not touch a dealer shelf...Imagine the possibilities! Mix and Match...pieces to trade...it would be like collecting baseball cards or something. Perhaps have a few kits with rare colors or scales, etc. Kits could even have like a basic starter kit and then advance kits either with blade shapes or/types, scale material, different style clipits, etc. A Modders dream from a knife production company! Go for it Sal! I think it would sell out quick and be on back order for some time to follow the release. Its the big toy for the big boys...just in time for Christmas maybe? I want one in my stocking!!! ;)

thats definatly an intresting idea and one i would be in for
i can see the price being high but then its like 5 or so knives in one so it would be worth it
now i understand where the name poliwog fits in with it as to the original concept
