I received a serrated stainlese steel cricket today. I have an aluminum one and a FRN one.

The Aluminum one was fairly light but had a nice heft. Because it was a liner lock there was some extra spacers in the handle that made it a pleasant thickness to hold.

The FRN one is much lighter and very easy to open, the thickness is preserved in the FRN handles.

They new stainless model surprised me about how thin it was. The frame lock works fine, the lock cutout line is razor thin, and it's pretty easy to unlock, though it is much stiffer than the other liner lock models I have. The action is a little stiff, probably just due to being new.

And for those finish perfectionists out there, there is a plastic peel off cover to protect the front side from scratches.

You know how usual knives for engaving are poor quality? This has a nice big slab that would be perfect for phrases names an etc. and in this case you'd get a real quality knife besides.

Another way I'm impressed is that there is a very slim clearance between the sides of the blade and the handle when closed. So I tried to push the blade to the side while opening and closing to see if it rubs. Nope, it holds firm and all you feel is the detent ball popping in and out.

Edit:

I just wanted to add that like all the newer spyderco knives, the thumbhole edge is pretty crisp, I'll probably go try and find some emery paper.

Also it looks like with the proper phillips and some torx bit you might be able to take it apart.

dammit dave, why did I have to read this?

Now I'm gonna be waiting on email(from Java), then harassing my postman until I get mine. He's probably just getting over the xmas set.... vulture at the window, then about 5' away while he drops off...
