Hey STR, I've been lurking around your section here for a while and I'm very impressed with what you do.

Is there a way that a Spyderco Terzuola Slip-it could be converted to a frame lock with a titanium scale on the lock side?

I kinda doubt it. You see with a slippie its kind of like this. There is always going to be a back spring in that folder. The tang is cut in such a way as to make room for the spring under it when the folder pivots. That won't change. It may be possible however to make a liner lock with a tab similar to what many of the old electricians knives had. this would make it lock like a liner lock but there would be no need for a detent ball other than to allow the blade to roll smoothly over an equally hard surface. It would not hold the tip down resisting gravity. The back spring would still function for that.

Right now is not a very good time if you need a quick turn around. I'd sure love to see one though since I've been eying that folder myself. Its a beauty thats for sure and I sure love the shape and size of it as well as that blade shape.

I may have to get one of my own. I usually adopt a wait and see attitude with some until I read some feed back unless its been out a while though.

If you want to fill out my work order form and mail it to me to evaluate as to if we can do what I mentioned above I'd be happy to check that out but to actually do it this year would be a bit of a long shot. Way long actually.

But we could find out quickly if its possible or not and at least know.

Your call. My work order is in one of two sticky posts top the page here on page one that contain it. Use the pdf file and fill out the form with your key pad and then print. Mail it with the folder. Its in the Low rider clip and mail instructions or the read this if you need to mail me work thread.

Thanks

Alright.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I thought it would be possible because of the way the Terzuola is made.

The liners each have a tab cut into them that puts constant pressure on the blade at all times in all positions...that's where the detents on it come into play. There's enough pressure on the blade that when the detents on the liners line up with the holes on the blade, they go in and hold the blade in place.

My thought was that it could be the lock of the framelock putting that pressure on the blade rather than the liner, in some way or another.

I'll think it over and decide whether I wanna give it a shot or not.

Thats fine. I really have not seen that knife or the set up for the design. So I'm kind of trying to imagine and visualize as I read your description. Just let me know if you mail it. Otherwise I appreciate your asking.
