is a great small folder! I just picked up all 3 models in frn, G10 and CF but made by bladetech. Why did Spyderco drop it?

Tim Wegner ended his collaboration with Spyderco to form BladeTech and produce the knives himself. That stopped production of the Mouse, and the large and small Wegner collaboration models as well. He had sold the rights to the Ocelot to Spyderco outright, so that project continued.

The knives you bought aren't Spydercos. Technically even the original Mouse is not a Spyderco, and I don't think that it even has a clipit designation (C#).

The original Almite Mouse was produced by Spyderco as a private label project for Tim Wegner and his company Bladetech, which sold and distributed these knives (not Spyderco). When Bladetech developed its own in-house manufacturing capability, it produced the design itself.

Well, I'd consider the original Mouse a Spyderco, in the same way I consider the AG Russell exclusive Baby Horns and C34s to be Spydercos. Has Spyderco's name on it, has a clip with a bug on it. I could almost swear it even appears in one dealer catalog, but I could be wrong, and am not in the mood to rummage through them at 1:30am.

Your right, Carlos. My mistake in including the Spyderco name. It is Bladetech knife by Tim Wegner. It was just showing with the Spyderco nmae in the google search. Thanks.

Nice picture, Deacon. Really, the mouse seems to have been associated with Spyderco and your pic shows it. I like the newer ones better as it is flat ground all the way to the back. I am thinking of changing the frn handle to a colored G10. The CF I got is really cool! Really handy little folder!!

I guess it's technical, but I'd call it a spyderco.

How's the bladetech G10 Mouse II? I had heard the fit and finish at Bladetech wasn't marvelous, but I really like that design.

Looks pretty good to me. Opens and closes with a snap. I also have the carbon fiber(which I really prefer) but I really like all three I have! Now I have problems on what to use between the 3 mouses and my titanium salsa. You should try it.

It's a great knife. I love the blade-tech version also. The only knife that was made be Spyderco that is smaller is the Toad.

The Mouse is a small knife that I have always LOVED! I have been meaning to get one for years!

I'd probably be buying it for my father. Do bladetech's come spyderco sharp? He won't like it unless it's the most ridiculously unecessarily sharp object ever created since the dawn of man kind. It must be sharpened by God himself.

The Blade-Tech knives are extremely nice. I have a couple of the Mouse 2's and the fit and finish is second to none. They also come extremely sharp. I carry one often. If I could find the Spyderco version, I'd probably buy one also, just to complete the collection.
