I thought I'd start a new thread to keep the patent discussions seperate ;) Briefly, Sal mentioned that he had licensed the Emmerson Wave opener for a forum knife. How big is the production run and which forum/end-of-the-earth should I visit to find out more about this and is anyone else on Bladeforum at all interested?

Edited for a typo ;)

Here's the link that Yester5 provided since I was too lazy:

Uh?? What??
There is going to be a Spyderco with a Wave?? Where was this mentioned??
Hmmm..... I'm interested. I think(imagining a waved Chinook II or Manix or Bison).

Bill,

Fascinating... thank you. I missed that the first time I saw that, for some reason. Need more sleep.

I didn't think EE would ever do so.

Sal is currently waiting for Ernie to get back to him. Hold thumbs and pray that Ernie agrees.

This is gonna be one cool Endura.

Maybe they are doing a trade, say a "Wave" for a "Compresion Lock". Spyderco gets to use the "Wave" on 1 knife, and Emerson gets to use the "Compresion Lock" on 1 knife. Ya never know. :) That would be interesting.

That'd be smart. Emerson's biggest weakness, by far, is their liner locks. Even for liner locks, they're not that good. Beyond that, the knives are wonderfully designed for what they're meant for.

I would have said Emerson NEEDS the framelock. But since getting a Gunting, I think a few of his knives could really profit by a Compression lock.

You guys took the words right out of my mouth.

A waved Spydie would be nice.

However - it may not sound right to say this on a knife forum, but -
I would kill for a Commander with a compression lock!

Emerson has collaborated with Benchmade and Gerber, why not Spyderco? After all, they can't manufacture their own knives fast enough to keep up with demand.
