Can anyone point me in the right direction for a supply house that sells flat sheets of .002 and .004 washer/shim stock. I found it in MSC,enco etc but not sure I need 50' of the dang stuff.

Edit to add a good source for 416 SS bar stock

I did a few searches and came up dry

Thanks

not real sure what washer is, but here's a place that sells different kinds of shim stock. Probably not what you want, but it's a try!

Try McMasterCarr. just type in shim stock in the product finder.

Here's a part number for 0.002" stainless: 9011K83

they have lots of stuff. I live in the SF Bay Area, when I order from them it is usually arrrives the next day.

I agree that for the price, Tru-Grit is real hard to beat for 416 SS.

As to .002 and .004 shim /washer stock, MSC did have stuff called "Shim in a can" that is 6" x 50". in stainless or brass..

if it is for washers, for say, linerlocked (like invented by Michael Walker) folders, the thicknesses you mention are pretty thin....most Nylatron or teflon washers are .010" or more. thick.
Part of the reason is that on a linerlocked knife, the detent ball is going to stick out far enough that a minimum of a .010" thickness seems to give better space for fit than thinner....just a thought.

If you are lookng for .002 Stainless tool wrap, to use as washers, We get all kinds of "ends" when wrapping blades. Can't wrap a blade in a 3" x 3" piece but it would make a dozen big washers.

Let me know if this is what you are looking for, let me know and I'll send you a bunch in the mail.

Rob!
