I replied on another post but wanted to make sure no one missed out on this special.
The Sarki Shop will be running a special on canvas covers. Any canvas cover ordered and shipped between now and Sept.30th 2002 will be half price. We usually charge $20ea. + shipping. For this month only, canvas covers will be marked down to $10ea. + shipping. What better way to protect your toys. We offer them in o.d. green and body bag brown. I can cover them in just about any color you like and this includes camo. but it will be a little more to cover the cost of the fabric. (I can not do canvas covers on quick draw sheaths). Please do not send your khukuri (unless you have other work for Terry to do on it). I only need your chakma, karda & sheath. Please contact us before shipping and we will watch the mail closely for your package.

I bet Sandi could even do some full khuk covering bags made from Velvet or other soft cloth.
A full bag covering with a flap and a tie would be wonderful to keep a Garud in, especially a quilted cover!!!!
There was also a cloth material I think mentioned here once upon a time that was supposed to retard tarnishing on Silver.
Something like that would be great for those of us who have Kothimodas.:)
 
Yep, Tom I could probably do something like that but I would have to make a pattern. I'm not sure what the cost would be on it. It shouldn't be too much depending on the type of material a person would want. I also had thought of trying to design a survival type roll up that would hold a khukuri securely and pockets for what ever else your little heart desires. (Matches, fishing yo-yo, hand warmers etc.) I don't have a pattern made for this yet but I wasn't sure there would be enough interest. What do you think??

I've been interested in the sheath covers for a while now, this will be enough to get me off the stump. Sandi, do you have a picture of the body bag brown color? All the body bags I've seen are black or OD green...

The canvas material came from a West German body bag(unused of course!) It's a medium brown color. I can't send any pics as the webcam is broke.:mad: There may be a pic on the Sarki Shop site.

Should we not ask where you obtained a West German body-bag from? ;)
 
I got a great deal on slightly used body bags! There may be a little bit of a odor coming from the new sheath covers though.:D

I will call a jeweler tommorrow to see if I can find out what type of material they use but I imagine what ever it is it's not cheap. I may be surprised though.

I think they have fairly large bags for silver platters etc. that would provide more than enough cloth for a cover. Such a bag might cost $20-$30 retail, maybe less if you knew where to look.

they sell brown flannel cloth, treated to resist tarnish, by the yard, for about $16.00. Also large bags of the same material.

*I don't recommend this supplier or know if their product works. It was just first in google for a search on "silverware protecting bags" - "silver protecting bag" got too many unrelated hits.
 
Thanks for the links. I will check them out today. Sorry I have been so slow replying. I have just been very busy and haven't had a chance to sit down and play on the computer. I will see if I can get a prototype some time this week. I will also check Tulsa to see if I can find this material local.
