A few months ago there were several posts here about Stabilizing wood with MINWAX wood hardener in a vacume chamber.Whats the latest info on this? Does this work or is there a better way?

Mike,

I don't know about doing it yourself, but here is a website that will do it for you...sorry if this isn't what you're looking for, but nobody seems to be responding with any info for you...

coty, In my opinion, Mike just gave you the best advice out there. Depending on how much you want stabilized, the price for the finished weight runs $10 - $12 per pound, and Mike Ludeman at WSSI does a superb job. As they say, "don't try this at home." I know a couple of makers who do, but they must have more time and money available than I do.

I have had good result with the Mini-Wax hardener. I put it under vacuum for 5 days, then into a pressure chamber until it is completed dried, change air in the chamber once a day and put it into a warm area. When you release the pressure do it in a well ventilated area.
