stainless steel question--304 vs 410

I guess I got confused. Looking to see what most makers use each of the above for. I was looking for the best application for folder halves. Which is softer? Which is best for fingerguards?--Thanks-Dan

410 for liners and use the 304 for bolsters and guards and such.
