Warning in advance of September 16th general strike:

It's probably worth mentioning that there is a nexus between the Maoists and the machinations of the Pakistani ISI intelligence sevice and their agents such as the Dawood Ibrahim organized crime group. Many of the Maoists' weapons reportedly come from Pakistan.

You might remember the ISI as being the organization that funded Mohammed Atta with $100,000 to organize the September 11th hijackings.

Thanks for link. If I travel at Christmas perhaps I'll enlist Sgt Karka and a few of his troops to accompany me while I'm travelling outside the Kathmandu Valley. And, I'll go incognito, of course.

Damn! Those Maoists were just regrouping. Well, the hunt by Order for Chaos is still going on, on a global scale. Hopefully, the Maosits will face redoubled efforts to remove them from the area...

since the Maoists are backed by Communist China, how is it that the US State Department and Dubya don't put more pressure on Beijing to tell the Maoists to cool it or else be lumped in with Bin Ladin and Al Quaeda?... :(

There are 20 pages of news reports on the Maoists at Kantipur Online.

Obviously there are a lot of people in Nepal who feel disenfranchised. I imagine I would if I were in their shoes. But the Maoists are such freakin losers. In my opinion, Uncle Bill has set up a model of an operation that can correct the situation: a peer to peer commercial relationship with people in the rest of the world who don't give a damn about the caste system and would rather send their money to Nepal for a hand made item than some mass produced POS from the local K-mart. Viva Internet commerce!

Viva internet commerce! If craftsfolk in Nepal had access to the internet, or at least friendly folk like Uncle Bill to help them out, they could be rakin' in the bux.
