I wanted to post a list of available steels I offer since I've added some in the last year. Below is a list of what I offer.
A2
O1
D2
CPM 154
CPM S90V
CPM S35 VN
440C
154CM

I also plan on going back to offering S7 steel along with the possibility of S5.
I have some S5 on order at the request of a customer. The problem with S5 is the cost. Knives made in this steel will be higher in cost.
The CPM steels are mainly for smaller knives, neck knives and EDC specific knives.
I still prefer the carbon tool steels for larger hard use knives.
Any comments or questions post here.

9" Tusker @ .25 S7.....

My mind has just been blown!!!

Thanks for the info Scott.

Scott,Didn't you use to offer 3V?I could've sworn I seen one of your knives in 3V.

Never offered 3V. I would have to buy a second kiln in order to temper it. Tempers run 1000 degrees. I can't justify 1100 bucks for a second kiln to HT one particular steel. I won't outsource my heat treating.

cant wait for my S5 tusker to be made !

scott,
im planning to work on the design this weekend and have it
to you by next week . nothing to radical just the small things
i guess i could call it ! hopefully scott thinks its decent enough
to make or he can tweak it to his liking !

Sounds good Frank. As soon as I get the S5 I will be starting your order. Thanks for the leg work searching for it. Funny how it ended up working out.

1095 is one steel I never considered. I personally have never cared much for it but then again I've never worked with it to base an honest opinion. My experience is based on other knives made from it. It just never really excited me for some reason.

Scott,
Which of the stainless steels that you work with is going to be closest to A2 in regard to toughness? I have psk in A2 that I baton and do multiple cutting chores (to include wire, thin metal/mesh) and love it. My dad was so impressed by its utility and its slim pocket profile I gave it to him. Was thinking an equivalent in stainless would be nice.

The carbon tools steels are going to be tougher then stainless steel but if I had to recommend a SS that handles abuse well, I'd say go with CPM 154.

CPM10V? Not as soft, but holds an edge like a madman and is a very tough steel. Is the heat setup difficult?

I've done alot of thinking about the steel list. This is the list of steels I will be working with. These are the steels I feel the most confident working with.

Frank, hopefully I will get to the bottom of this. I can almost bet what I have isn't S5. There is still hope.
