All,

I want to relay my most recent experience with Steve at Coal Creek Forge. I bought a Spike Tomahawk from him about a month ago and absolutely love the thing. It's an amazing piece of work and worth every penny.

Now the experience, my dad is 71 years old and has recently finished his retirement playroom and is proud as a peacock with it. He asked me some time ago for a tomahawk to put on the wall (as he loves the look of them). I intended to order one from Steve down the road a bit for him but sometimes life throws a curve at us. He was diagnosed with 3 completely blocked arteries and one partially blocked one and elected for immediate bypass surgery to stem the impending heart attack. He had quadruple bypass surgery last Thursday and his now home and resting..he's sore as heck and tired as all get out.

I contacted Steve last week (knowing he had a growing backlog) and asked him to put me on the list so that I could give it to my father while he's home and resting (6 - 8 weeks at home, I'd hoped he could do it in time). He told me that if it would make my dad smile he would pop one out over the weekend for him. A true man of his word, he banged one out and mailed her to him yesterday. My father will absolutely love it and I know the man..he will keep it next to him unitl he can get down to the basement to hang it on his new wall.

I just wanted to publicly thank Steve for really putting in the extra effort to get this done so quickly. His communication is always immediate and he sent me photo's of the finished hawk..beautiful (I will try to post it tonight or tomorrow). if you have ever considered a tomahawk or forged anything, I cannot recommend Steve enough. knowing my father will glean hours of joy from that tomahawk and knowing that someone took the time out of his busy schedule to make it for him, is a priceless feeling.

I truly appreciate those on this forum that took the time to post about his great work as well. I would not have known about him had you not done so, thank you all.

That is a wonderful story.....:) Thanks for sharing it......
I wish your Dad a speedy and full recovery.
I have one of Steve's 'hawk's and they are awesome. I hope your dad enjoys his.
Steve is a TOP BLOKE and a fantastic craftsman:thumbup:

BPman, all the best to your Father, hope he gets on his feet soon. As for Steve, he is a great guy with a gruff surface and a heart of gold, and one heck of a hawksmith (and lately makin some nice old timey Bowies.) His growing back order says a Lot about his hawks and the man. Thanks for the real life story.

Best regards

Robin
