Hi folks,

Been lurking awhile but haven't posted much. Just picked up a Becker BK2 K-Bar knife a couple weeks ago. Now I'm salivating over the ESEE's. Couple of pertinent questions:

1. Who has ESEE-5's in stock right now?
2. What is the purpose of a PACK number?

I'm sure I'll have more questions later but that's all for now. Thanks in advance.

If you google the Esee 5 you will find a few places.

As for the pack number it gets you special treatment.
If you get pulled over and you show the cop your badge he will let you go, you can also get free pancakes at IHOP...

Welcome!

1. I don't know, but eseeknives.com has a list of vendors...I'd start there.

2. I'm not sure. I even got a cool heavy plastic RAT Pack card with my number on it! It lets you in on stuff like RAT Pack knives that are limited, and you get your number on them.

Looks like Dale at The Knife Connection might have some.

RP number doesn't do anything except let you get in some contests.

Welcome!

The RAT pack number will also qualify you to purchase limited edition knives that are occasionally run.

Thanks! Looks like their 5 inchers are Rat Cutlery. What exactly is the difference? I can see that they are still associated with ESEE from the handle. Are these older model knives or something?

Those are just old pics from when they were still RAT, don't let that throw you, you will get one with "ESEE" on it that's totally new production. I've ordered all my ESEE's from Dale at The Knife Connection. He's a knife nut just like the rest of us and posts here all the time.

You probably won't do any better than the listed prices there and his customer service is second to none. If you order it tonight, you might have it by Saturday, no later than Monday. Dale is the man, he'll treat you right, you can't go wrong with TKC. You'll love the ESEE-5, go for it!

If you've got any questions, just drop him an email through the website, he'll get back to you pretty fast most of the time.

I e-mailed Dale last week or so about the Rat Cutlery Logo knives and he told me that they are all the new ones he just hasn't had the time to change the pics on his site!:)

Oh I see Magus beat me to it!

Thanks for the quick response guys. Now that I think about it, I already have a 1/4'' thick batoning type blade in the Becker. Maybe my first ESEE should fill the "slicer" void? What do you guys recommend for a slicer to compliment the Becker?

ESEE 6 slices like a champ. If you dont need the reach, the 3 is even thinner.

Waffle House I thought........oh wait, you're trolling so he goes to IHOP instead of Waffle House, my bad!

I already must have drunk the cool-aid while waiting for a number ... sorry to be impatient.

1. Are there video how-to clips on using the divot on the ESEE-5 with a bow drill to start a fire?

2. Has anyone from NASA ordered a specially engraved blade?

3. Lastly, how do the blades react to saltwater?

i asked the very same question about the pack #'s just last year. and you know what i found out? that you dont need one,the people here are some of the best and the most helpful[just like the other forums here] and after you get one its fun to carry your card around in your wallet. so i suggest that you buy an izzy or 3 start posting and enjoy the companionship. plus you get to see mrsshotgunner in her..... [nevermind]lol

Yes Dunno and rust

My search-Fu is failing then ... all I've found is some proud owner of a RAT pack knife. Lucky fellow.

I'm guessing not yet - or someone would post a pic. Sigh. I'd love to see the ESEE-5 as their official Chute knife.

I'm of the opinion - corrosion would happen faster. Any folks go to sea with their ESEEs?
