strange mark on my new purple blur

Hey guys i have this strange mark on my new blur right out of box. Wonder how it got there? Any ideas?

looks like a mark in the metal that was there before it got coated..you could call the retailer and exchange it or contact Kershaw and see what they would do. Considering it is limited production I would find out asap
 
Its alright, its purely cosmetic (I hope) and it doesn't affect the knife that much. I'm just curious how the heck it got there!?
 
Maybe the remnants of something scratched in to the steel stock the blade was made out of? Like a batch number or the type of steel. Usually I think steel is marked with the type of large crayon type things you use for marking cattle but I'm just throwing out an idea. I know Hitachis steel is wrapped in paper to identify it and the color of the paper is where the "blue" and "white" steel names come from.
 
Sinsanity, that looks to me like a defect we should have caught before shipping the knife out. If you give us a call, we should be able to help you out, but it will involve having the knife sent in to us. You're right that it does appear only cosmetic, so it shouldn't affect the functionality of the knife at all.

Thank you for the great reply Lynda! I guess I will contact Kershaw as i have nothing to lose for shipping it in!
