Hey guys, i bought a strider about two years ago from a guy online when i was in japan and had it sent to my folks. I finally made it back to the states and started playing with it today.

All striders ive ever seen had stamped logos, bit the one i have in my hand is laser etched. Did the older ones ever have laser etching? Did the old ones have any other discernable features to them (like the hardware) i should know about? Can anyone post pics of older striders?

Ill be posting pics after work. I really hope i didnt wait two years to find out i bought a fake.

Pictures would help out a lot.

I'm not going to claim expert status at anything, especially discerning the legitimacy of a Strider but from what I've seen (I own 7 and have handled dozens...) they've all been stamped.

What do you mean by older Strider?????
Older than 2 years or when you bought it, it was older????

I'll post more of the hardware for the screws later. So, what do you think?

I bought this two years ago online when I was stationed in oki, I just got back.

That looks right to me. The logo has 7 leaves which is a good sign. Check the inside of the the scale nuts (what the screws screw into on the handles, not sure if they're called nuts or what), usually the fakes won't be textured and the real Striders will be.

Check that you cannot unscrew the thumb studs. Fakes are screw in and the real deal is press fit.

Compare the opening hole's size to another SMF if you can, sometimes they'll be sized differently on the fakes.

I can also tell you that the DGG milling looks correct and the G10 looks good as well.

If I were to give a definitive answer I'd say your knife looks legit thus far.

One more thing I'll add -

I've found that a lot of the fakes hardware is cheapo stuff that will rust/wear prematurely. Disassembly will tear them up as well.

It's real, The logo and symbols look stamped to me. From the pics, the hardware is correct, blade finish is correct.
