I have never actually seen a strider or held one, but I have heard allot of good about them, I have seen and held the "Buck" Strider's series. which brings me to my question: What's up with that? are they the same? are they made as well etc. just trying to learn a little here any answers I will appreciate, not trying to knock striders here so don't take the questions the wrong way. thanks

yea, so the buck strider is a little different than an actualy strider.

the buck striders are designed by the strider guys, materials and properties and all. and then buck manufactures the knife, i guess cause it's cheaper for a huge company.

blades are still heat treated and stamped by paul bos though.

i dunno anything about the BS solution, but the folders aren't bad.

quality is just as good, i expect. but you don't get the strider unconditional warranty since it's manufactured by buck, and therefore it's their problem. but you're not going to break it.

If it says STRIDER then Strider backs it; be it through Strider or Buck they will fix the problem, if Buck wont. As to the folders themselves they are made by Buck and sold at a very good price for a production/custom type knife. That being said the Buck series is designed by Strider and manufactured to their strengent specs. with ATS-34 or BG-42, G-10 grips, and Ti liners. Not many knives I can think of come this hard core from a major manufactuer. So are you holding a STRIDER in your hand when you hold a Buck/Strider....Your damn right you are. Nuf Said.

Of course I am not flaming just stating some facts and some fiction for fun if nothing else.

huh.

I thought the knife was manufactured by buck, and was therefore their problem.

Does... this mean I can send my BS into strider for resharpening, blasting, and worn liners?

It would make sense if it was only warranted by buck, they made the knife. I thought strider only designed it and put limits on the materials.

One way or another, it's a pretty decent knife.

Buck made the knife. Try warranty issues throught Buck. If you aren't satisfied, try the Strider Shop. It still says "Strider" on the knife, and out of company policy, they will still take care of any problems you might have. Strider has a vested interest in making sure anything with their name on it is outstanding.

I have a good cross section of both Striders and Strider-Bucks. The Buck versions are high quality tools that will do anything you need. IMHO, they are a bargain, especially considering the prices you can find on the internet. That being said, once you own your first "real" Strider, the Bucks lose some appeal. You just have to handle a Strider to get it. Pictures are good, but the feel is the deal. It's kind of hard to explain. At first the Bucks seem massive and overbuilt, but then you get a feel for the real thing and you know what overbuilt really is. No compromise.

Ryan's words (once again) are true. No better answer than that.

I had a Buck/Strider Spear point BU880SP and after getting a GB, I find the Buck is still a great knife, but the GB blows it away.

The major plus to the Strider Folders is grip, and feel. Then steel used, S30V in a folder, it is really GOOD. Not to mention the WARRANTY you get when you buy the "real STRIDER".
