A few years ago the wife bought this really neat spatula that we both like. Seems like everytime we want it though its in the dishwasher. Then the wife said something tonight about saying how much she liked it but wished it was like half as wide and I thought to myself, 'you know, thats a good idea' :D so off I went to the shop and pulled out some .070 thick titanium and started playing. Haven't used it yet but I think this will be pretty nice actually.

I'm wondering how it will hold up in the dishwasher though. I think the ti will do fine. I'm not sure about the orange G10 but we'll find out. I selected some of that .080 thickness textured G10 I got from Halpern a while back to give this one some good grippiness and hopefully keep it from getting as hot as the original. You can see the original here in the last shot. Not having the tools to make the bend in the same spot I was forced to make a new one where I was able to bend it. For the purpose its supposed to serve I'm not thinking thats going to add or restrict it at all though. Guess I'll know first time I get to use it.

Let me know what you think. I know there has to be some cooks out there besides me.

looks good steve, but I wonder if the bend being so far back will restrict the use? You might have issues with deeper pans, but then again, you might not.

Either way, it looks sharp!

Yeah it may be. But fortunately I have one pan and its big so I think for it I'll be ok. On the original its bent at the wide part of the metal and none of my tools will grab that far in and then trying to bend that wide of a piece is next to impossible for me unless I had a big metal bending floor standing model. May have to bite the bullet and get me one of those one of these days. I've seen some every now and then at Atwoods for sale but they don't always have them. For smaller pans though I might have to cut off part of the tip and shorten it some. Next one I do I may modify it with a slightly longer handle, and shorter working end and experiment some. My wife already claimed this one as her own so looks like sharing is out of the question. :D

Tongs I rarely have need for but the little spatulas like these are something we really use a lot on the stove top for breaking up ground beef or stir fries and stuff like that.

I did go out this morning and make up another with some refinements. Now I have my own. My wife has this thing for orange G10 for some reason. She loves the stuff!

So I made my own in black G10. :D

Let me know if you start selling these -- I could use a good tactical spatula! :D

Looks great Steve!
