Style with flair.

I don't know why, but, I've always been a sucker for a nice drop point blade, folder or fixed. I think it is the sexy-ist blade going or coming. Whats your favorite blade style. Got a pic?

I really like the Wharncliffe shape for a blade. I believe it to be the true gentleman's blade shape.

Recently I began adding drop points and semi-
skinners, again you can't beat traditional.

Lets hear it for drop points. Makers, do you hear this. You guys are talking fixes blades I think. You feel the same as to folders? I have a 1880's Krusius Bros. Abalone two blade Wharncliff bladed gent of about 1 1/2" closed thats to die for. Almost asnice as a drop point. (Actually is serious drop)

I personaly like them all. I like Drop points (with a flair). I like trailing points ,clip points , skinners ,semiskinners , you name it I like it as long as it has a flair and is somewhat set apart from the common execution of said type and is done so that it is still very practicle. has that flow ,symetry and is cleverly executed .


Something that I have been excited about lately is new organic,undefinable blade shapes that combine several of the best atributes of differing styles into one shape that cannot be classed but performs like magic. Like recurve kukri semiskinner, all in one shape .Or Droped trailing point recurve. Or Clipped tanto.You get the point
who says you can't have fun with this knife thing.

Stylisticly, I like Wharncliffe blades a lot. I think they can be very classy. The only problem is that with most cutting tasks I perform, I want a little curve in the cutting edge. Since Howard asked for pics, I'll offer this. I've been using roughly this profile in my kitchen knives for a couple of years. It's really a spear point, but avoids the blunt point, and I dunno, strikes me as a practical Wharncliffe.
