Hello all... We are one of those large families who actually needs a car that seats 8 people (I have 4 children and they all have friends). My wife bought a Chevy Suburban (used, 97), and because she is a short woman and has a bad back (what do you expect after 4 kids) she wants a step plate or a running board to help her get into the vehicle.

Now I've done the usual web searches for after market car accessories, and I literally can not find ANY Suburban step plates which should be much cheaper than the ONE place I found a full running board for $295, and that's befor tax and shipping, and only includes ONE! Do any of you know of a source of Chevy suburban parts, online, or at least contactable by phone, that might be able to help me. I've even looked at the Chevy web site and I can't find stuff there either (half their pages just don't work of course)...

Any suggestions?

What about a Nerf bar instead of a running board?? Are they any cheaper??
Something like this:

How about this website: www.truckstuffusa.com/outsidbarbys.html

I would also suggest looking into Pep Boys. You can find their website HERE.

Good Luck :)

Thanks guys.. The truckstuff site paid off in a nice pair of running boards plus mounting hardware and shipping for under $400! Turns out she wants running boards so the dog (yes guys, I've been married for 25 years, so old wife, old dog, etc) can get into the car without help too!

Personally I think this is a crazy amount of money to pay for something you're going to step on when I could get one or two nice knives for it! Ah well, where are her priorities?

Obviously, her priorities are in her own comfort and convenience, as well as that of the dog, over your own mental well-being through the continuation of your hobby. Sheesh. Dames...

I guess they all get that way from time to time.

:)
