First off, I'm not entirely sure this is the correct forum for this, but I asked a mod and he said it is, so if there are any issues a mod/super mod can move it to the correct place.
Anyhow, to the point, I was wondering what Boy Scouts of America summer camps around the country, say about sheath knives, specifically, staff carrying them for program/legitimate use. I know of three that don't allow summer camp staff to carry, organized by my experience with the camp: Flaming Arrow Scout Reservation in Lake Wales, FL (I worked here last summer). Camp La-No-Che (lake norris cheney) in Paisley, FL (I have a job offer here this summer). And Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, NM (I have not been here but I read their 2012 staff guide online, it specifically said no sheath/fixed blade knives).
So basically what I am looking for is to staff a Boy Scout summer camp that allows staff to carry fixed blades for, like I said before, program and/or other legitimate purposes, my main area being Project C.O.P.E., with outdoor skills being my next choice, which is often where I work, and I don't like teaching the Wilderness Survival merit badge with a folder, it doesn't matter how useful it is, I teach from my experience and in my experience, folders do just that, fold, on your fingers, and fixed blades do not, therefore much less of a hazard during a wilderness survival situation.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice you can give me.
