Hello everyone! Yet another Surefire question from me. I must thank everyone who helped me in my earlier thread, as navigating the SureFire thread was much easier today :)

I have been reading up on the M2 and E2e lights, and this has generated a few questions.

1)What exactly do the turbo heads do?
2)Is an LED bezel available for the M2? If not, will one become available?
3)Can the M2 and E2e be converted to rechargeable lights?
4)WHich light makes for the better street defense tool? I cannry a 4" folder or fixed blade, and I'm wondering about street defensive use of a Surefire.
5)Anything else you want to kick in would be great!

Thanks for helping out this flashlight newbie.

Here's some answers, others may vary::

1)What exactly do the turbo heads do?
---A turbo head takes the light "beam" and focuses it for longer range applications.

2)Is an LED bezel available for the M2? If not, will one become available?
---Nope...and Unknown, possibly, with a long wait.

3)Can the M2 and E2e be converted to rechargeable lights?
---Nope. Well, an adaptor that's used for the 6R model may fit the M2, but it would look funny.

4)WHich light makes for the better street defense tool? I cannry a 4" folder or fixed blade, and I'm wondering about street defensive use of a Surefire.
---Neither. I don't believe a flashlight can be used for a defensive tool, unless it's kubotan sized, or maglite sized.

5)Anything else you want to kick in would be great!
---The E2E's are great; the ratio to size vs. light output is outstanding. For a combat style light (a.k.a. M2) look at the new G2Z.

Awesome dano, thanks for your info!

As far as the streed defense tool, I kinda meant 2 things. #1, shining a light on people approaching me in a not-so-friendly manner. #2 is if someome gets close and I need to, I'd hit with the ends of the light. I realize a 4D mag light is a better striking tool, but I am interested in the striking capabilities of the Surefures. I always mix these up, but koppo/yawara sticks have proven to be very useful tools if one is trained with them. These sticks are often just dowels of hard wood, or "modern" versions of them are titanium or g-10. Check www.drearic.com for articles on these "tools". Of course, by best street tool next to my brain are my shoes :)

The KL-1 LED bezel is for the E-series lights.

In Surefire's "understandable" nomenclature and desire to confuse the free world, the KL-2 is for the 3-cell lights, and the KL-3 is for the 2-cell lights. Go figure.

The KLs are expected within the next four to six weeks, according to the scuttlebutt on the SFDB and CPF.

Dano's right about the rechargable. The KR-2 is the kit that converts the "standard" size 2-cell lights to rechargables, however, it's only available in black anodizing. It would certainly work, as long as you don't mind the black section added to a HA body. Also, you'd have to make sure you have adequate o-ring sealing to maintain the water resistance of the standard M2.

The G2Z is going to offer alot of value in a tough "tactical" light in a lightweight package, at a price lower than most standard aluminum tactical lights. I'm waiting to see about an olive drab version myself before I take the leap.

Whilst I agree that SureFire have not always used the most straight-forward part naming system, the KLx Bezels are not as strangely named as you may first think.

KL1 "Conversion LED Bezel No.1"
It attaches to the E1/E2 or E1e/E2e bodies.
Therefore running on one or two SF123As.

KL2 "Conversion LED Bezel No.2"
It is intended for the M3 body.
It will work on the M6 body but wastes battery power.
It will work powered by two SF123As.
It will not work powered by four SF123As (For example; the M4).

KL3 "Conversion LED Bezel No.3"
It attaches to standard body SureFires.
It will work powered by two, or three SF123As.
It will work powered by the B65 NiCad Battery stick.
It will not work powered by one SF123A (For example; the 3P).
It will not work powered by four SF123As (For example; the 12PM).

The release of the KLx Bezels are fast approaching. You can pre-order them from several dealers.
