That is cool! Good job on your blade, and I love that point design.

Looks like you did a superb job on that one Alex.
Now for the next step when are you going to order a pre-ground blade and then finish it,or just go for broke and make that first knife....

Thanks Bruce !!! from a man who can make what you can I will take that compliment very well. Thank you !!
Now so ya dont think I know anything. Those cosmetic changes took me a full day just to file out the handle, grind it down some, cut and epoxy the scales and remove all the excess epoxy that globed up around the tang. Sanding, staining and oiling took another three days. I enjoyed it immensely though.

I have tried in the past two other kit knives but I was always left wanting on the blade material and heat treat. When yousay preground blade is that basically the knife minus handle ?? That might be GREAT. A REAL blade made and heat treated by a custom maker but I get to add my two cents by adding the handle !

As far as making a knife ... I have glomed a lot of info here on making one sans shop and may at some point try one out. Ugh time is my greatist enemy. I have a shop set up at work but it is basically set up for carpentry. Sooo I will still be pestering you Knifemakers to produce stuff in my head for quite some time.

Really nice knife. What Bruce is talking about are blades that are anywhere from 75% to 100% finished. It's not a bad way to get started although from what I saw of your work, you will be itching to build from scratch soon. Try this link for blades and most anything http://www.kovalknives.com/

Heck Alex it still takes me a day or two just to make a handle myself,You did good...
If you would like I will furnish you with a rough ground and heat treated Blade (finish ground, but not hand rubbed out yet)And then you can take it from there and se what you can come up with.If you are interested e- mail me.

Good job, Alex!

As someone who loves carbon steels and hand finishes a lot i can fully understand why you removed the black coating. The handle looks a lot more comfortable in the "advanced" version. Looks like a real no-joke using knife!

Damn, Alex! You got guts. Nice job on making it fit better.
