texastonydobbs is very nice and compact, but wolfsurvival's was simply beastly and included much more.

I'd vote for Texastonydobb's kit from post #60.
Has everything but food included and I think it edges out other kits based on:
We will judge this contest on innovation, compact size, ease of carry, ability to provide survival priorities, "cool" factor, and just about anything else we choose to judge it on
versus other kits that have all the essentials.

I'll be honest with you, I think all the guys listed had an excellent kits and that's the reason we put them up here for a vote. I couldn't decide.

I think all of the survival kits were great and appreciate you all taking the time to pull everything out to photograph it.

I voted for mayor22. Reason being, that kit is the one I would most likely carry with me everywhere. I would not like a large package strapped to the outside of my thigh to get hung up on every passing branch. I already have a big package....nevermind!

Thanks guys ,I prefer my RC3 kit over the RC4 one, The RC3 PSK with the Nalgene holder is great, simple & easy to carry, plus it covers all the bases and works great for my application.

Tony that is a cool kit, sleek to, does ‘t look like it would get in the way or snag as easy as mine, Tony do you know if they make that same pouch about an inch longer? looking for something to put my Swiss multi tool and a fire steel in? my Victorinox pouch is about shot.

I also liked mayor22’s, looks like it would easily fit in bellow pockets of your BDU with plenty of room left. Like Idaho I do lean a little more towards the pocket survival kits. But if I was going to take an attached kit. I would probably go with Tony’s for the reason I stated above. Good job everybody excellent brainstorming activity, an thanks Jeff for coming up with the idea, an allowing us all to participate.

John.

I have three of the Maxpedition 10" x 4" bottle carriers that I'm using as the starting point for small kits that can be easily carried without drawing too much undue attention. One currently has a SOG Revolver strapped to it, along with a couple of MOLLE pouches for other essentials. I plan to strap on as much as possible initially since it will still be a relatively light load. I haven't decided if my just delivered RC-4 (my first RAT!) will be used in one of these kits or if it will end up with with my primary BOB (backpack). In my opinion, the Maxpedition bottle carriers provide a great foundation for small kits and it will be fun to see how they evolve as more gear is added. I'm almost certain that I'll end up buying at least one RC-3 to evaluate for use on these kits. :)

My RC-4 just arrived yesterday, my first RAT too! What a great knife! Feels solid in the hand, and I love the sheath. The edge seems to be at the perfect angle too. It's not too thin, so it seems it will stay strong. Thanks for making a great knife at a great price:D:D

I think all of the kits were pretty good, whereas ttd's and wolf's kits are the most compact. I believe it depends on what is the most convenient to the person.

Thanks Jeff and everybody for the contest, it has definitely given me a few ideas to improve on.

I agree taurn, I think everybody's kit is great and it fits that persons needs & fits that persons budget as well.I am sure most kits get swapped around, items altered or at a later date items replaced by something new and fancy or something tried & true but kits for me never stay the same.

I did like everyone's kits. In the end, I voted for Tony's because it was the closest to what I have set up. One of the key points for me is that the knife is attached to the kit on the outside, but is not a "survival sheath" type system. I hope that makes sense. Also his kit contained everything I would have in a kit without being large. It's still a small enough package to be a "kit" and not a "bag" like a Bugout bag., but has all the essentials including a container for liquids and a separate cup. Everything in his kit that would be used often seemed super easily accessable. I like that a lot. I hope to soon have a new Maxpedition pack with much the same setup. Right now, mine is very similar, but it's based on an old Army sholder bag.

Ok that was very tough. I like them all and really think I could tote any of them. I like JA's addition of the metal cup for boiling if needed.

I ended up voting for the Max bottle kit TTD put together. Mutli reasons, I can clip it to me or throw it over my shoulder, add another pouch to it if needed with the molle straps. The filters are a great addition.

Good job to all!!!!

Didn't figure I would win with my kit but it has suited me well in all my military and field exercises. Something I can take out of my 3 day ruck and go. The other guys have really good kits as well. The main reason I added it to the thread is to get ideas for my own kit and see if anyone else had any improvements to mine. Thanks to those who have voted for mine.
