If im not mistaken, it was a Spec Op's brand sheath,, they are awsome sheaths, I have one for my SFNO and it is a perfect fit. Brigade Quartermaster sells them,,that is where i bought mine.

please tell me the of those sheaths, were you able to get a 6.5" satin jack blade into the 6" small sheath or are the sheaths the large size?

yep,,,they will, but you will have to take the screw fastner out of the bottom that holds the kydex liner in, that will allow for a longer blade in the sheath.

that screw fastner is there so you can take the kydex liner out and clean it,,, and if you want, just heat it and reshape it to custome fit the blade you are gonna carry in it.

so what keeps the liner in now, does it come out with the knife or is the fit loose enough?

Howdy, Skunk -

I used the large sheath for the SJT, and I have about an inch+ of room at the tip, after forming the mouth for the talon (using a heat gun very sparingly, and welder's gloves to pinch mold). My sheath is also called the 'survivor' model, has a larger 'expandable' front pouch thingy.:D

The following picture shows the SJT over the small, and the FSH over the large. I leave the liner-retention screw in place, some have removed it without major issues (I believe Murphy is alive and well, having met him) - I would find a secondary method of securing the liner to the sheath if I removed the screw.

Hope that helps!

Black zip tie might work/haven't tried it, yet!

I will when I get that blk/blk mag F-SH to beat on...:D

well,,,it will still be tightly fitted in the nylon sheath.

without the screw fastner the kydex liner wont come out unless you pull it out,,,it wont be so loose that it comes out when you pull the knife out. plus you could always glue that liner into the nylon sheath:cool:

Heat gun will work just fine,,, I used a small butane tourch to heat mine, but if you use open flame, just be careful not to scorch it.

just heat it till it is soft, then just press it to form it to the blade, nothing to it :jerkit:

It was a Spec Ops Survival Sheath. Methinks it was Eric who modded it. He trimmed the top to fit the micarta a little better. He stated that it was a small sheath, but it looked more like the large.

Here's the thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368897

By the way, an NOE sheat with a similar cut-out at the top works very well too. That's where mine now resides.

Cheers,
BJB :D
