Swapping Scimitar for Chinook?

I have carried a number of Cold Steel and Spyderco folders over the years, both on and off duty as a Deputy Sheriff. The last few years I have carried a Cold Steel Scimitar PE with no complaints, and the striking pommel has been used more than a time or two! I have been trying to find a PE Chinook with S30V as apposed to the ChinookII with 440V, but for my purposes I'm not sure that should be an issue. The Chinook should be slimmer in the pocket and the pocket clip is certainly better than the one provided on the Scimitar. I guess it will add to the other two Spyderco's I carry everyday, a large Rescue in right rear pocket and a Peter Herbst PE Autumn Folder in left front.

All Chinook II models (to my knowledge) are S30V. :)

Older CII models are hollow ground, with the latest ones now being flat ground. I have a combo edge CII and think it's a great knife.

Have you tried the Manix? A fantastic knife for duty carry, it handles everything I throw at it. Stay safe brother.

There was a small amount of Chinooks II made of 440V and Chinooks I made of S30V as well.

I've carried both a Scimitar and a Chinook for quite awhile on differing occasions. The Chinook is a far better knife in every respect, but it doesn't have as a dramatic eye appeal at first glance. The Chinook surely doesn't have that small ball pommel at the end, but does have a butt end for a folder.

I purchased a Chinook II for my son because I enjoyed the original Chinook so much. Personally, I prefer 440V to S30V, but I don't make those decisions. I've played with his Chinook II for a bit, and it is closer to the Scimitar than the original Chinook in design, but still a far superior knife in execution.

You'll be very pleased with either Chinook you purchase.
