Following up on an earlier post.
I was trying to find out who J Martinson was and why his name was engraved on the SWAT Red 911 bali. Also wanted info on how to contact SWAT. This is what I have learned.
Phil referred me to Deepak Chopra, a Distributor for SWAT. Deepak was very nice to talk with. He told me that SWAT does not wish to be contacted by consumers, thus, no email address or web site. Related this to the recluse of Rob Dalton.
On the Red 911 bali, Deepak said that J Martinson was the designer of the knife and also hand ground the blade. Deepak also confirmed that there were only twenty-two made. He also said that neither he or Phil made any $ on this one. Guess we got a deal.
I also learned from another well known and reputable dealer of high end production and custom knives that SWAT has no email address or web site. But what was also interesting was this dealer had never heard of J Martinson as a knifemaker.
I have searched every forum and custom maker list for J Martinson and have found nothing.
So, what I learned is that SWAT is a secret company, and J Martinson is a mystery knife maker.
Bottom line is I really like the Red SWAT 911 bali. It is a quality knife and a keeper. Actually, it is a Xmas gift for my son. It did arrive with the burr left on the edge which I stroped off. Guess that says something about J Martinson, whoever he may be.
