Are sword canes considered concealed weapons? In the latest Cutlery Shoppe catalog, they're offering some beautiful sword canes that in this constipated society, must be illegal. Where can mere mortals go to find out?

This should give you a place to start - State Knife Laws.

Remember that laws change constantly, that interpretations of those laws are often at the whim of individual police officers and judges, and that the tendency in society these days is to see anything useful for selfdefense as a deadly weapon.

Swordcanes legal? Not a chance. On the other hand, just about any other kind of cane is a wicked weapon, but rarely gets seen as one.

if you want a decent trip to prison or at least a good sum going to the government, by all means try and have the cane.
I only know one case where a guy manage to secure a permit to own one, however he was banned to put the scabbord and the sword together, or he could be jailed for it I think.

It's got nothing to do with "this constipated society." In most states, Sword Canes have been illegal to carry in public for well over a hundred years.

But, you can probably own one for your personal collection if you like, just not carry it in public.

Well then, all I need is a time machine to convey me back to Victorian times, and I'm set. Problem solved. Grin.

Where it might actually do some good protecting me.
