take care

Yeah I've seen that one in pictures only. Without having some pics of the break down with all parts laid out for me I'd not know what I need to see so until I can get that or see it on my bench (even better) I can't say if its possible or not. Its an interesting idea though. Thanks for the offer to help if need be. I would not be interested in buying any to convert personally. I have too much going on now most days and some other things I have planned for me that I have not gotten to yet.

Tony's post got me wondering if I still had some leftover pics of the T-Mag, specifically the area where a liner lock could potentially engage the blade. I found one and that part of the tang looks pretty shallow vertically, don't know if that would be prohibitive or not. Still, an interesting idea as Steve mentioned.

i just took mine apart...3 screws is all that is holding this thing together...one pivot screw and bolt, one in the middle with a spacer and one at the end with another bolt that also holds the clip. the TI liners are aprox .05" or 1.4 mm thick but they are glued in some way yo the carbon fiber scales. ill try to get my camera and take some pics. the magnet "locking/holding" mechanism is very simple. it consists of a rectangular piece of steel with the magnet inside..it engages when the blade is open or closed. the problem with a liner lock that i see and i am in noway even a tinkerer of knives is that the space between the main part of the blade and the spacers is very tight...i think you would need more space.

If someone had one and wanted me to remake it into a liner lock or frame lock I'd be more interested in the shape of the blade tang than anything else. The body can always be copied and the old one bagged up and sent home magnet and all.

Looks like it might be a more feasible candidate for an afetr market compression lock. At 50 bucks it's still a high quality knife with great materials and I am sure a heck of a cutter...just not a stabber!

think you could make a liner/framelock but the space for lock engagement is quite limited....it's not going to be as strong as a standard framelock/linerlock....

Not going there guys. Very little to work with on that and by the time you tried you'd be hard pressed to get a good contact, if you could at all, and the the washer would need replaced or reduced in size significantly to get out of the way.

I don't see it as a feesible option based on the pics. No tang to speak of on that folder. Not even a candidate for a lockback conversion there. When you look at where the lock short cut would have to be if I used the existing flat cut area and increased the depth of it, the release would be clear up by the choil. Not good.

Great pics Tony and I thank you but its not happening in my shop. I've pulled off some pretty hard stuff at times but I'm afraid thats a steep grade I couldn't climb. Sorry.

well it was worth a shot..lol..thanks for at least looking at it..somebody on the spyderco site just said tighten up the screw and make it a fixed blade:D

Could you put an eccentric bushing in the pivot hole making the shape more of a cam. Then put a backspring in it and make it a slipjoint?

Maybe someone could but not me. Sorry
