TAD Banned !!!

Ooops. Well, Josh shouldn't have said what he said. Kevin's got a right to be pissed, I think.

They paid alot of money to be on the forums. So using words is not that bad. I guess he was expressing what he felt, and got banned for it. Its like calling the president a moron, and getting killed. That dont happen in this country.

Matt

Josh jokingly referred to Kevin as Herr K. S. which is just German for Mr. He didn't use anything rude like Furher or insult Kevin.
Reed

So if I refer to Spark as Signore Kevin, will he assume I'm calling him a fascist and ban me too?

They paid alot of money to be on the forums.

Which has already been refunded to them.

TAD and Spark have had an uneasy relationship for a while now. Spark banned Patrick once already. I'm not surprised he blew, actually. Herr might be "Mr.", but I've mostly heard it usually used as derogatory slang (which is exactly how Spark took it, and also how, I think, Josh intended to SAY it).

They paid money to do business on the forums. Being here is free, unless you want certain priviledges, correct?

So using words is not that bad.
Depends on the words. And either way the money is being paid for dealer status in that case, not to use words. I do not see how one is connected to another? Nobody is buying here the right to speak. That's free.

Not exactly, the forum with all attributes is Sparks own business. Hence his choice, how and with whom to deal with...

And as for "the guy who stood up for TAD and got banned for it", calling Kevin an a-hole is not the way to get on his good side when he's a little pissed.

Totally uncool Spark.
I paid for the Gold membership to support you and this forum as a new member in good faith that I would be able to recieve the latest up to date information in the knife community. I enjoy greatly this forum and the freedom of speech it allows. I realize that you and TAD have had differences in the past but to completely ban them from this forum is not the solution. You are now denying forum members of crucially important information and input from one of the top suppliers of top quality blades which is the main reason for joining this forum. Everyone knows that the people at TAD are top notch in thier treatment and handling of customers and contributers. I have searched and can not find any bad comments about TAD other than what you have to say about them. This issue appears to be a personal problem between yourself and TAD which up to now has been confined but has now spilled over and is affecting your paying forumite customers. I post this at my own perile knowing full well that you have the capability to emmediately ban me from further postings in this forum. I would lament this loss more than you will know, but still have to present my view. Please reconsider your banishment of TAD from this forum. TAD is an intregal part of the Knife community and during this time of all the "sheeple" and Gov hacks attempting to give all of us knifenuts a bad name, we need all the support amongst ourselves that can be mustered. Your insistance apon strict mandatory regulations of what is "politically correct according to Sparky" needs to be tempered a bit, perhaps to an RC of 58 instead of 70. Please reconsider your edicts and allow us new forumites to see and hear all that is important and relevant to us. You are just forcing more and more forumite members to go elsewhere otherwise. Perhaps because of your long involvement in the knife community you have forgotten what it is like to be "newbie" looking for advice and information regarding knives. TAD continually comes up with new and innovative ideas and products which everyone has been excited to read and learn about. We all enjoy reading about new upcoming products and commenting on them, it is fun. They [TAD] are a mainstay of the knife community and collectors especially us new guys who have so much to learn and have a hard time trying to find out what are good and usefull products. Patrick and Josh and Evan are straight shooters just as you are. Maybe you and TAD are just too simmilar to allow the two of you to co-exist harmoniously, I don't know, but please don't let your differences affect this forum or what the new forumites can learn from both of you. Please, please work this out amongst yourselves to the benefit of Blade Forums.com members so that we all can still benefit from both of your experiences. After all that is what this whole forum is about, isn't it?

I'm going to move this to "Service and Support" forum.

It doesn't belong here, and Spark will see it and be able to respond to it there.

It seems to me that Josh behaved like a horses a$$. He and Spark have had a few run-ins in the past and there is absolutely NO mistaking the true intent of the "Herr" and "Stomp down" comments. This is about as offensive as making Klan jokes and references. I mean, especially knowing that Spark has the last name, Schlossberg - how clueless do you have to be to realize how offensive the nature of that name calling would be? What if someone black called me "massuh" in a sarcastic tone on this forum... Or I made a similar comment to a black individual. Not a damn thing funny about it is there?

Josh knew what he was saying. He had the time to type it down, reread it, and submit it - and then he could have edited it. People shouldn't be defending that kind of conduct. If you are so concerned about what sort of things are coming out through TAD, go look at their site. At least Spark gave them back their money as he told them to Fuk off.

TAD has an excellent record of service and has great knives. But that isn't license to behave like this. This is a public forum, but it is privately owned. Josh stepped on his dick this time. Perhaps at some point Spark will "unban" TAD, but that is his choice and probably hinging on a serious apology.

I've spoken with Josh and he had no intention of this being interpreted as a "Nazi" reference. It is a touchy subject that went the wrong way. If you haven't spoken with Josh, please refrain from slandering him on your misinterpretation on his jibe. Yes it was a shot, but not in the way it was taken. Is Jaegermeister not german? I am offended that you would use it. I don't understand it, so I don't like it! (Sarcasm) My point is that anything can be taken out of context. Don't buy into the hype.

Back at you, Ryan. Don't buy into the Hype.

I called TAD right after I made that post, at 1:01 EST and left a message. That was 0900 PST. I stayed at work until 1900 EST and got no calls or emails from Josh or Patrick. Had the situation been reversed, I'd have been on the phone in a heartbeat, eager to clear up something like this.

No calls, no emails. So, at this point, I have no choice but to assume that this was the intention.

A man takes responsibility for his actions. There was nothing postive in his post.

As part of TAD and a "dealership", to do so would give a certain "Herr. K.S." a reason to stomp down.

Give one of us an email direct and we'll be happy to answer more "commercial" questions off-thread.
This was out of line and could have been phrased completely different. Heck, he could have left off the entire first line and I would not have had a single problem with the thread.

However, he put it in there for a reason. You don't put it in quotes unless you mean for it to have emphasis. There is no mistaking the intent of this. And as a result, I had to take time away from my business to defend my character, yet again.

He felt it neccessary to buy a dealer membership to do business on BladeForums.com. Instead of doing business, I guess there he feels it's neccessary to take shots and jibes at me.

So, I now have no need to do business with TAD. It's that simple. I haven't asked anything from TAD that I don't expect from anyone else on this site - Follow the rules. Special treatment has no place here.

Loyalty above all else... except honor. Right?

Kevin

As I don't work for Strider, I'll let the comment on their company motto go untouched. But, it's comments like that getting people banned around here. You misunderstood something you must have read in the Strider forum and decided that I work for them. Then, you felt it neccessary to quote lines. Is it not possible that you took the prior comments the wrong way too? Yeah, it was a snide remark, but I can promise you that Josh did not intend those comments to be interpreted the way you took it. I know him and I know he would not make such an inference.

So, there you have it...Loyalty to my friends and an Honorable statement. Got it all wrapped up on one paragraph too. :D

Hey Ryan,

I understand what you are saying. BTW, I am of German heritage. My last name is about as German as it gets. Therefore I have no real reservations about using the german translation of "Seeker of Life" for my forum moniker.

As for the actions of Josh at TAD here on the forum, I never expected that he meant it in a malicious manner. If my statements implied otherwise, then that was wrong of me. Should that be the case, then I am man enough to tender my apologies to Josh. However I think that he knew exactly what he said even though he meant it as a joke and ended up stepping on his dick (that line still makes me chuckle). It was in extremely poor taste and highly offensive given the circumstances. If Spark's previous problems with Josh were something that led him to feel that this was an intentional slur, then I think that he was eminently justified in banning him from this forum.

However, as we are all adults, I hope that an acceptable resolution can be found and feathers be unruffled. Thin skin has no place here in the forums, but there are some things that just shouldn't be said. But I think you are right... getting info from only one side is not appropriate for my passing judgement on this situation.

Had this been a one time event, I wouldn't have had a problem. Had there not been a history of TAD taking potshots at me, my character, the forums, and my business, it would not have been a problem. Had I not taken a few phone calls where customers asked why TAD was badmouthing me and my businesses and coworkers, there would not have been a problem.

This is a pattern of behavior. I am not going to continue to encourage it by allowing this to continue. I have a business and 2 sites to run, and guess what? $850 for a dealer membership does not buy my principles or my self respect. "Oh, but he paid me money" doesn't mean I put up with this kind of crap.

Second, I don't imply that you are an employee of TAD or Strider, KnifeBomber. Furthermore, Mick and Duane have no need and nothing to prove to me - they are men of honor. They have been there and done that. You have nothing to prove to me either - you are doing your part serving this country just like so many others of us have who heard the call. My use of their motto was to illustrate a point - and I think it does it pretty well.

2337 EST. Still no phone calls, or at this point, emails. If they haven't contacted me by this point, they clearly don't feel a need to. I know that had I stepped on my johnson with golf cleats and pissed off someone like this, I'd have been burning up the phone lines and emails trying to fix things, or even make a comment good or bad.

"Denying" is too much I think, they have a website where you can get all the info, and the best to my knowledge nobody has shut down that site.

has now spilled over and is affecting your paying forumite customers.
Mduh. Why only paying? It is a loss apparently, however affecting equally paying and non-paying members.

Maintaining a forum where several thousand people come with all their interests and different opinions is a difficult task, unlike ctiricizing and demanding...

It is Spark's forum to do with what he pleases. I am sure that the decision that he made was not done on the spur of the moment.

I like TAD as a company and would really like to see a way to getting them back, but if they are going to continue to show such disrespect for the owner of Bladeforums maybe it is best that they stay away. They do not have to kowtow, but they should be respectful.
