Where do you go to get a pair of tap dance shoes? I want to take tap dancing up! I've always liked the way your whole body moves when your shaking your legs. Tried thumbtacks in the heel and toe of my hunting boots but it didn't take long to find out that wasn't the answer. I don't want a used pair off of ebay either :barf: got a clue?

Hi Cindy-

Wasn't there a movie where the son (with a lisp) says to his father, "Dad, I just wanna' DANCE!" Funny stuff.

Dance studios probably have good connections with dancing shoe suppliers, especially if you're considering lessons.

First, look in the yellow pages for dance studios. Then, I have three plans for you:

1) Sign up for lessons. They'll tell you where to get tap shoes, and they'll also teach you to dance, but they'll want you to pay them, like, money....

B) They might be willing to give you a free trial lesson, especially if you give them the impression you have vast amounts of money to be bilked of. Wear a lot of cubic zirconias when you go in to ask. Um ... no, maybe better not wear a lot of cubic zirconias -- then they would tell you the most expensive place in town to get tap shoes.

III) Just get the address from the yellow pages -- don't call them. (They might be able to trace the call.) Dress in your black ninja outfit and tiptoe over there and lurk outside the door at the end of a dance class so you can ask the students where to get tap shoes.

Pop those drawing pins out of your Danners and dance, baby!

I found a pair!!! The dance studios wanted quite alot of money for lessons and I didn't even bring up the subject of bartering venison for the lessons  ( city girls, go figure ) so I'm learning on my own! Hope I'm the next Miss Collard Green at the Collard Festival next fall!!! Thanks alot for the help.

How about Irish Step Dancing instead? That Michael Flatley gent makes quite a racket, at least as much noise as with tap dancing, I would say. Although I believe you have to start with soft shoes as a beginner, then work your way up to the louder variety.

Cindy, I would seriously consider this! Maybe you can get GenO to join also? Last I heard, Michael Flatley was paying himself (at the height of the "Riverdance" phenomenon) a mere $600,000 - a WEEK! That's almost as much as Tom Mayo makes! ;)

Seriously, I might even join you. Of course, there would have to be peach cobbler involved somewhere.... :D

Geno says no to dancing, would rather drink beer in his spare time. Lord of the Dance however leaves much to my imagination. Hubba Hubba :D

I'm sure we all remember the Kurt Vonnegut stories of the Tralfamadorians who looked like toilet plungers and who's only method of communication was tap dancing and farting.

Warning, Will Robinson! I'm sure we also all remember what happened to the Tralfamadorians: They tried to dance and fart a message that a bloke's house was on fire. He twatted them with a golf club...

Cindy,

Have fun! Soon you'll look like the lovely Jean Butler from the original Riverdance troupe.

Maximus, I want to be the lovely blonde girl in Riverdance. I can strengthen me back by crushing beer cans on the honery can crusher on the back fence post (which I do anyway ) so all I'll have to do is move my legs without flapping my arms...want to dance once I learn how? You're in the UK, it's suppose to come natural to you. What do you say?

Cindy,

I never dance. Never have, never will. If I ever did, I'd look like a drunk killing cockroaches.

Thanks anyway!

Cindy,

Cork boots (logger boots with little spikes on the bottoms) make for great tap-shoes...The weight of 'em will also strengthen your legs.:D.

Hey, hey, hey!!! While this is the community forum, this is still Blade Forums. I mean Tap Shoes, c'mon. What will this lead to. Next someone will start a thread on Musicals.......
