Hi, guys!

I've got a Tula Arsenal SKS that I want to restock with the Tapco Intrafuse Stock (and several compliance items); and I wanted to ask some folks' opinions on the course of action.

First of all, are those stocks good? What about the other Tapco parts?

Also, I've got both the regular blade bayonet that comes on the Russian SKSs and a spike bayonet that comes on the Chicom SKSs. Which bayonet is the better choice? Given the lack of edge on the blade one, I'm thinking the spike would be the better weapon...any opinions?

(BTW, that last question is rhetorical...I know that actually attaching the bayonet would violate 922R; I'm not actually attaching it, just don't want to buy multiple stocks.)

Thanks!

i think that the TAPCO stocks are great, have one on an SKS. it feels nice and is easily adjusted i took the bayonet off and got the stock with the lower rail though. i think they are great for the money.

I just sold a 1950 Tula arsenal SKS for $500.00, which I originally paid $120 for 10 years prior.

These are climbing in value, believe it or not. I would not mess with it at all.

Unless of course, yours is already boogered up, then I say mod away. Tapco makes a quality product.

About the only thing the TAPCO stock offers over the original is adjustability. If that's what you're after, I'd say have at it. If you are trying to make an AK out of a SKS, I'd say save the dough that you'd spend on the Intrafuse, as it will put you halfway to an AK.

I had one of the TAPCO variety stocks when they first hit the market, before they became the Intrafuse line. It was fine for shooting around the range and for shortening up so the kid could shoot it more comfortably, but I'd wager that I could have broken it easier than an original stock.

i also say if ya want a AK get an AK a SKS just isnt the same.

i have heard tapco is ok, i doubt its as strong as the std stock but i could be wrong that plastics pretty tough, and they do make some cool looking stocks, i wouldnt dump much money into an SKS though,

I had an SKS and added one of the Dragunov style stocks which I thought were higher quality than the Tapco.

Hi,
 Listen to them man, Russians are quickly gaining in value for collectors. If yours is in good shape, leave it alone. Mod it, and you'll turn a $500 to $600 carbine into a $200 beater.

$500 for an SKS? wow.

if ya modify ya can always change it back.

i wonder what my old norinco SKS paratrooper is worth these days, more than what i paid i imagine lol ($90 w/the bayo).

The Russian SKS have appreciated considerably, the Chinese, not so much.

I know yours is an SKS, but the sentiment is the same. You will make Russian orphans cry by Tapco-izing your rifle.

i would venture to say $300 is a conservative guess.
tapco isn't really respected in the gun world but it may serve a purpose. im with the previous guys, keep your gem and buy a beater AK that you can trick out.
