Hello Everyone,

I'm new here, and I'm trying to figure out how things work on this site. How do I put up a custom avatar, and how do I subscribe to threads (on other sites, you subscribe as soon as you post something, but that doesn't seem to be the case here...).

One thing I'm admittedly still confused about is that I notice there are other folks who are "registered members" (like myself), but they have custom avatars--are these folks still paying for that option, even though they aren't "Gold Members"?

The forums have been upgraded with some new features and some new restrictions. Members with avatars and sig lines from the old days were allowed to keep them but new members have to pay.

"Sword and dagger", eh? Would I be wrong in guessing that you are of Italian extraction? Welcome to BF.

Half Italian and half Scot-Irish, with an interest in (amongst other things) the many forms of Italian swordplay, including of course the old Bolognese school (hence the "sword-and-dagger" username).

My own fencing training, however, is restricted to the modern French school. I'm thankful for what I have learned, but the scarcity of the Scuola Magistrale in my neck of the woods is still frustrating. :grumpy:
