Today at lunch I tried out the new firesteel for the first time since I epoxied the rod in the handle. I used all natural tinders and used the Bushfinger to whittle some fuzz sticks. The tinder was some dry grasses and leaves, two sparks and had fire. The sun was pretty bright at the time so not the best time for pics...but I think the pics still pretty much speak for themselves :)

Mist, did you make the handle on your firesteel or buy it that way? First one I seen that is most definitely not the norm. 3" or 4" rod ? Thanks.
Be safe.

Nice. That Bushfinger just looks better the more you use it.

Thanks, I think so too.

Does the bushfinger have more belly than the ladyfinger?

I don't think so.

I made it. It's a small deer antler crown for a handle and a 4" x 3/8" Going Gear mischmetal rod. There is a thread on it here somewhere.

God I need a Bushfinger.
I love your firesteel BTW. Great job Mist!!

Then I truly hope you get one and soon. For me it was a frail knife I didn't even know I was hunting for :)

I have spent hours whittling things with it only to take it inside and use it in the kitchen. I trully love this knife.

Thanks for the compliments on the fire steel. As soon as I find more small crowns I am going to make a few more.

"The new ones certainly do. The blade is a bit wider."

Hmm... That may make a Bushfinger a must have then. Thanks, Ill will be looking for Fiddleback number 5 now. By the way, I missed the mail lady monday so I have to wait until thursday for my BLJ.

You and me both BBQ Boy. I really want one of these!

I'm working on finding some more small antler crowns...I've just been really busy lately...I am going to make some more of them after I test this one out for a while
