The Cold Steel Trailmaster Bowie got a lot of attention -
but I couldn't quite convince myself to acquire one.

Until I saw this similar sized big Bowie in the Cutlery Shoppe catalog:

Teton Bowie -

as you can see it's a bit too big to fit even diagonally on my scanner.

Overall length ~ 14 1/2"
Blade 9 1/2"

and some sharp-eyed among you may have noticed the blade is convex ground with a "convincing" zero-bevel convex edge.

Handle - Kraton "rubber" with waisted contour for confidence in grip -

This is one knife I have that I am still intimidated by - and handle with respect.

The knife is stamped Teton Bowie and on the other side Seki Japan

I can't recall exactly what steel it is - but I'm pretty sure it was an AUS- stainless steel - I think it was "better" than AUS-6 so perhaps AUS-8 or even AUS-10? -
does anyone know?

I have one of these. Mine is marked "Rigid". I know there's at least one other model but I can't remember the brand. Top quality Japanese production. This one is in my "keeper" production drawer.

How much does that go for? I can't find any web pages on it. Google has failed me. :(

I'd like to get more information on this knife myself, I kind of like it. It isn't listed on the Cutlery Shoppe's web site.

Me too, and I noticed that also. I recently got the fold out thing from them, but I don't recall seeing that in there.

Bought them from Cutlery Shoppe about 10 years ago, and the brand name they went by was Teton which were AUS8A. Came out to compete against the Cold Steel bowie at a much lower price but the same size, and same type of sheath. I guess now you would have called them a knock off but of excellent quality, and there was not as big a deal about copying other brands like today. In fact I also had the Cold Steel model but found I liked the Teton better it being stainless, and did not have to worry about it rusting like the Carbon V blade of the Cold Steel which I eventually sold for that reason. Stout, sharp, and very well made. I got them on a sale just before they went up to a higher price. I paid $50 each for them(Cold Steel with stag handles cost me $200 at that same time), and the last I saw they had gone up to $100 each for the Teton's just after I bought mine. I even still have the catalogs in my collection(somewhere) which show them.
Believe it or not I still carry one in both of my vehicles, and have used them once in awhile while out in the woods. Hold a heck of an edge with the convex grind, and came in a very well made leather sheath. Still in like new condition today.
Just my .02 cents.

Many thanks Larry for refreshing my memory on this one.

I also bought mine many years ago from the Cutlery Shoppe.

If I recall for once procrstination paid off. I think these were about $89.99 price range for a while - then they went on sale for something like $69.99 then $59.99 and I bought it.... well, that is if my memory is right :)

Thank you also to averageguy - now that you mention it, I do recall seeing it turn up as a Rigid brand version - I think they were sold by SMKW (Smoky Mountain Knife Works)?

I'm pretty sure that these have been long discontinued -
and probably the only way to get one would be used/secondhand.
