A group of Texas knifemakers is gathering on August 28th at the Central Texas Knife Show in Austin as the initial meeting to form the Texas Association of Knifemakers.

Any maker or knife enthusiast is invited and encouraged to attend and help establish this long overdue organization, the primary purpose to promote handmade knives, Texas knifemakers, and knives in general. It will not be limited to only Texas makers BTW, but anyone that wishes to participate.

Since I'll have a large group of makers assembled for the Fall Hammer-In/Knifemakers Rendezvous at my shop on Sept. 10-12, we will use that Forum to discuss, and possibly finalize, elect officers, and bring all the loose ends together.

I've thought for years that Texas, having the large number of great knifemakers, should have an organization to promote the craft and help introduce more of the public to handmade knives. I totally support this!!!

Again, I'd like to invite any and all of you to attend the meeting. I think that all the pros and cons should be considered, and all input will be appreciated.

For anymore information, please email me direct at jlstout@concentric.net

Thanks in advance.

Will membership be allowed to any maker that
pays dues, or will there be quality and
business ethics requirements?
