A couple of months ago, you may remember that there was an apeal for help here on Bladeforums. A number of knife makers responded and kindly donated knives for auction.

I was lucky (foolish?) enough to buy the knife made by Tim Herman. This knife arrvied today, much delayed by the problems of 9/11.

I have attached a photo of the Silver neck knife and its Kenny Rowe sheath. I have to say that the photo does not do the knife justice - the quality and workmanship is awesome.

If you have the chance to buy an example of Tim's work, please do so to repay his generosity - I know this will not be the last piece I buy from him.

Regards,

Thanks Ed and Tim!
Hope you enjoy the knife.
I guess there is another positive side - at least Bastid did not get this one too. :D

Are those screws I see on a Herman knife??

Seriously, a great looking blade. Kenny did a bang up job (as usual) with that leatherwork. Awesome

Dexter,

It actually took 42 screws to make that knife. The other 40 are under Tim's work bench somewhere. ;)

As always, beautiful work from a great maker. :)

Congratz Ed, on a beautiful knife, Tim is a true artist and it really shows in a simple knife like that.

Stab, hit the nail on the head, actually Tim would use screws more often in his knives except that he does seem to have a problem remembering, "Righty tighty, Lefty loosey".

Tim is screwing up all the time now. Sad to see, really. But then, it's always good to see a screw-up make good ;)

Nice knife and generous gesture Tim. You are a one-of-a-kind even if you are screwed up a little too tight.

Paracelsus, joking around

Ed,

Thank YOU for your generosity on this project. I am honored to know you and glad it finally showed up, I was really getting worried. I hope you enjoy it:)

A wonderful knife, made from the heart by a great guy. Congratulaions Ed, your generosity was heart warming to say the least.:)

Yeap, you got screwed!!
Keep practicin' Timmy, you're gettin better all the time....nice wood too (I got a log of that stuff.....it cracks when you look at it hard!) :)
Now if I could only get him to make me a bowie!! :p

It is good to see that people appreciate a design so simple, yet executed so well it is actually very complex!

Tim Herman and Ed Moses are tops!

You're right Rob. There is a lot going on in that simple looking knife. The double swedge is not trival, and all the lines are modeled from complex elements. Really nice, Tim.

foolish ;)

seriously,congrats. beautiful knifes,as are all of tim's.
i just like giving him **** about it. :D

Simple, elegant, drop-dead gorgeous design composed as Jerry said of complex elements executed flawlessly. Ed, you are indeed blessed to own a knife like that and for your generosity!
Tim - way cool & like the screws! Are the scales replaceable? Be neat to be able to put on some ivory scales for dress-up occasions!

Bill

Just wanted to add thanks to Tim, Darrel, Jerry, Tom, and Rob. (I hope I remembered everyone). I also want to thank all the bidders; if it was not for you guys Bastid would have picked them all up and I would be broke.

What you guys did speaks volumes of you and it is all good.
(At least most of it :D).

Of course that doesn't surprise me. Tim's work stands out so much that when I flip through the knife rags I can say, "That's Timmie!" before even reading the caption. I would love to watch him create a knife. Could you imagine a Tim Herman video complete with Phil as his assistant (getting coffee, donuts, etc) :D

Seriously, good cause, good folks. It don't get no better than this!

Ed, are ya gonna use it???? :)

Hummmmm - I have a unique Tim Herman piece with an interesting and documented provenece. Everybody thinks it looks very nice (or better).

I think that I will make it into the knife I use in the garage to show the correct level of respect. :D

Either that or I am sensible and keep it perfect so that I can just admire it.

I am talking to Tim about a user Wall Street, but I want him to try Talonite, that would make a nice tactical.

Please help me to work him over.... :D

Regards,

Ed

PS I glad you guys all like my knife from the picture, I can say that it does not do it justice!!
