I had the great pleasure of receiving my contest package from rat-cutlery today. I'm humbled by their generosity. First they shipped these knives to my doorstep which was something that is more than just generous (if you notice my location) it was quite amazing. I had even provided my father-in laws address as an alternate U.S. one and they still shipped the knives directly to me. Guys I feel a lot of guilt on this one - but will be making it up to you!

Then I opened up the package and I couldn't believe its contents. The RC-3 serrated, RC-4 and RC-6. I had the RC-4 previously and am loving every day of having it. The RC-3 serrated is a perfect compliment to the RC-4 and I can't wait to get some experience with those famous serrations. I can see what everybody means though when they waffle about recommending one model over the other. The two knives each have unique differences that give them utility advantages in specific applications, but have that same wonderful handle.

However, the RC-6 just totally blew me away. I have other 6" blades and had a mental picture of what I was in for when this knife was to arrive. That mental picture was shattered. This is a bad-ass solid knife!!! The knife is truly hand filling, has great balance and this heft that makes it feel unstoppable. Kind of like when you get a baseball in your hand - that weight just feels so good, you want the throw that baby for all your worth. The RC-6 feels just like that, but in a knife. Don't worry, I'm not going throw it but it wants to chop and feels like an extension of your arm.

I think it is the best feeling, bomb-proof, grip I've encountered so far - and I handled a few different designer brands in my day. I didn't have too much time to play with it yet, but took it out back and did a bit of chopping on some seasoned hard wood a and, for fun, some notches on some green dogwood. The RC-6 did a fine job eating its way through seasoned hardwood. I was about 1/3 of the way through a 3" piece after 15 chops. I'm sure a heavier, longer chopper would go through quicker, but when I can get through 3-4" of seasoned hardwood in about 1 min., I'm not at all complaining. Notching works good, not as great, I suspect, as the RC-3 but I haven done that comparison yet.

I have another RC-6 already on its journey to me from Derrick and KSF. Do I have any regrets of having two copies of this awesome knife - nope. Maybe I feel a little guilty about it as I know some of you are still waiting yours, but certainly no regrets at having two. This thing is amazing! I'll try to get some better shots this week of the trio in the bush.

Now I can't wait to buy myself an Izula! Even my wife want one of her own.

They are very nice, congrat's. Today I recieved a Large Tek-Loc and put it on the RC-6 sheath, fit's perfectly.

Whoa it looks like Christmas came early for you. Congrats on some awesome knives.

Well - it is always nice opening up something new. The twin RC-6 made its appearance today :) :)
