It aint a Leroy Remer or an Arksknives job but it works for me and I love it.

This is a Camillus contract Buck 303 with Bamboo scales oiled and torched to a golden brown.

edbeau,
Thanks, I like the brown and sense the bamboo is smooth there was no sanding involved, with the exception of shaping the scales...

Nice work! I'm also a fan of bamboo and hope to see more of it in the future.

I may need to give it a try myself down the road. However, I have the skills of the average garden rat so................

I am only but a beginner myself, and like I said it was an hour job. The only tools I used were a table saw to cut the scales an upright table belt sander and a scotch bright wheel to shape the scales, well and a table vice. I used a lock tight product to adhere the scales to the liners. And a dremel to cut the old scales off. AS someone suggested in an other thread after I cut the spring pin I pined it a bit, flattening each side out so the thing doesn't fall apart.

That's good work for a beginner. Keep at it and you'll make some nice pieces I'm sure of it.

Thank you everybody, it was fun. I have some nice dark wood I picked up at a knife show that I think I will try my hand at re-scaling a Vantage. If it comes out nicely I will put them on a Vantage Avid (my fav of the Vantage Line) but if I ruin the knife I'll be glad it was a Vantage Select.
