we have a set of i think chicago cutlery knives. they need to be sharpened, i have tried with the diamond steel rod that comes with the set and im not that great with it. What system do you think would work the best (lansky, sharpmaker, ect) and do you think it will need stroping? if so what grit and what type of material? also i would like to keep this under
$40-$50, (i said sharpmaker because you can get it for about 30 off ebay :D )
it would also be nice if you could tell me what angle to sharpen at

Sharpmaker, all the way, since you can use it to sharpen just about any of your knives! well, that and it's fantastic.

Get the Sharpmaker. You never need to strop a kitchen knife, or any knife, that's just something us sharp freaks do. :)

I use the sharpmaker. Works very well, especially if you don't let them get too dull between touch-ups.

Kitchen knives seem to do a bit better with a little bite to the edge, so stropping really isn't worth it.
