Does it come in a non-serrated version?
I like it a lot, except I don't like the blade being fully serrated.

Here's the only place I've seen for a plain-edge Civilian.

http://www.nt.net/~admclean/Index.htm

Click on the "Rare finds and Discontinued" graphic on the main page.

Dale's a straight-up guy, who's been a contributor on rec.knives for several years. You'll also occasionally see him post on the forms under the handle "Radioman". He's VERY attentive to his e-mail in the evenings on weekdays, and ships his in-stock items promptly.

According to the knifecenter, the plain-edged Civilian is discontinued. Then again, I've been hearing different rumors of the Civilian being discontinued in one way or another for two years now, but they still seem to be making them.

Friends of mine have owned two of them in plain edge, and they're very attractive, but I prefer the serrations for the intended use of this knife. At any rate, I think it's fair to guess that only aluminum-handled Civilians were made in plain edge, and that these were a very small minority of the overall number made.

I checked that link, but didn't find any reference to a C12P, or even "rare finds or discontinued". I have a customer who is desperate to find a plainedge Civilian..if anyone happens to see one anywhere, please let me know!

Of the two I know of, one was sold long ago, and the other one...well, are you prepared to kill for it

Spyderco hasn't made plain edge Civilians for many years now. Corduroy is correct in that very few were made and only with the aluminum handle.

Danelle et al,

It is on that page, although now that I'm checking it out I suppose my memory has been playing tricks on me, as to the graphic's exact wording.

Go to:

www.nt.net/~admclean/Index.htm

Scroll down to the bottom of the main page. There, you'll find a large logo for the rec.knives FAQs, and smaller Bladeforums and Knifeforums logos. If you scroll up about a screen, you'll see an acknowledgement thanking Dexter Ewing, and a mention about Benchmade T-shirts.

Just above that is a small green graphic with the words:

Collectables: Rare, Discontinued, or Difficult to find items.

Click on that to get to the plain-edge Civilian page. Dale's had that page up I suspect for at least half a year, if not a full year. He'd probably love nothing more than to move those Civilians out ASAP!
