This is a design that udtjim sent me, the Dakota Badlander. It`s 10 1/4" overall, with a 5 1/2" blade, 1/8" thick. He specified indigo dymondwood handles with yellow liners.

Hi Stomper -

Another beauty!

Is that wood a denim blue? That is very cool!

Thanks for the pictures.

best regards -

Love the way that turned out. I should be headed home on Monday from Sioux Falls and Minneapolis. Unfortunately the trip to the VA left me wth more questions than answers, I will have to let my doctor study the tests then tell me in English what the mean. The doctor that I saw down there was not up on our language.

I sort of designed the knife with my favorite features of the Grohman, as othere have, plus the Bravo One and some help on the handle from one of my favorite kitchen knives. Could not have been a better match to what I wanted. I prefer the five inch range of blade to any other and if I only had one knife it would have a 5 1/2 inch blade and would probably be this one or the Pathfinder from Breeden.

That's sweet, great design and awesome work as always John.....love it !!!

Thanks! Yes, the blue is kind of a denim blue.

Hi Stomper -

That is too cool! If the liner matched the color of the thread on Levi's that (as it kinda looks like in your picture) that would be so sweet!

I reallllllly like that.

Maybe a Lobo in that combo (denim with "thread color" liners) and the same kind of handle contours as my Survival knife. :D

udtjim -- Could you provide some insight into why you chose to have a thumb ramp?

I am curious.

I don't dig them myself but I am always keeping an open mind -- what do you use it for?

I use the thumb ramp when doing the finer points of Big game skinning or cutting when I need close control. Seems to work well for me. My favorite part of the Bravo's and Gunny. I like the looks of the ramp as well.

Looking at thay photo again, I can't believe how good those blue scales look with the liners. I doubt that this will be my only Badlander. A big chopper version may be on the horizon. How big could we go?

How in the world did I miss this? You have designed my perfect knife.
